Giambattista ValliAs a graduate of the famed Central St. Martins art school in London, Giambattista Valli learned early on that a silhouette gives a designer his own identity. Valli wasted no time establishing his place in fashion history. With a unique voice Valli has rapidly become one of our favorite designers and people—as nice as he is talented. Although his pieces are often embellished, Valli is very interested in playing with structure and construction, not just decoration. Giambattista also loves the idea of designing opposites—very strict suits, for example, next to a frothy corseted dress. He wants some of his clothes to be as sharp as a knife, others as sweet as a cookie. “….I like to be inspired by the past and move on to the future; I like to be contemporary. I can not define the future if I don’t know the past. I like to be ‘now’….” GBV
